SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS AND THE PROGRAM OF PEDAGOGICAL RESIDENTCY FOR LETRAS UNDERGRADUATES IN THE SERTÃO OF PERNAMBUCO

The aim of this article was to analyze social representations of the Pedagogical Residence Program sponsored by CAPES present in the final reports written by scholarship students of a Letras major in the sertão of Pernambuco. Social representations are collective constructions shared by members of social groups that organize and categorize elements and events in the empirical world. Based on studies of Moscovici (2000, 2003), Abric (1994), Jodelet (2001) e Py (2000, 2004), our analysis identified as central representations for the Program the institutional nature and teacher’s education which are supported by the following vectors: being in the classroom, theory-practice dialogue, for the former, and experience and positive qualification for the latter. Peripheric representations concern the dialogue with school students and the mandatory internship and criticism to partner institutions.
